The section of the 15-acre site that will be home to Heron Estates Family is being prepared now for the construction of the 79 townhouse-style workforce housing units.

The business of the Riviera Housing Authority is to provide safe, decent and affordable housing to the residents of Riviera Beach.
The Riviera Beach Housing Authority (RBHA) was established by the City of Riviera Beach - Resolution No. 173-68 adoptedo on December 4, 1968, under STate of Florida Statutes Chapter 421. The City Commission adopting this resolution declaring that:
An unsanitary and unsafe inhabited dwelling accomodations in the City of Riviera Beach, Florida; and
There is a shortage of safe and sanitary dwelling accommodations in the City of Riviera Beach, Florida, available for persons of low-income as rentals thay can afford; and
There is a need for a Housing Authority in the City of Riviera Beach, Floriday.
In 2008, the State of Florida expanded the statutes under Chapter 421 to allow for housing authorities to either act as developer or partner to build and expand affordable housing within the state.
"To provide safe, decent and affordable housing to persons of low-income; to make efforts to ensure that persons of low-income will be made obligees of the Authority and that, to the success of the Authority those obligees shall also profit. Additionally, to create viable partnerships to the Authority's overall goals and objectives."
