That's according to the Tallahassee-based Florida Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials (FAHRO), which awarded the Authority at its annual conference, held September 14-16, 2021, in Orlando. Boardmembers and Executive Director John W. Hurt were there and received the award.

New Testing Site Opens In Riviera Beach


That’s thanks to Palm Beach County (PBC), which is partnering with the City of Riviera Beach. Testing began on Dec. 30 and the hours of operation are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.—seven days a week—until further notice. The site is at 2409 Avenue H West, just south of the city’s Wells Recreation Center. No insurance? Testing is free but those with insurance should bring their insurance cards. The first regular Board Meeting of  2022 will be held at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, January 11 and it will be held at our administrative offices on Broadway Avenue.

The business of the Riviera Housing Authority is to provide safe, decent and affordable housing to the residents of Riviera Beach.


The Riviera Beach Housing Authority  (RBHA) was established by the City of Riviera Beach - Resolution No. 173-68 adoptedo on December 4, 1968, under STate of Florida Statutes Chapter 421.  The City Commission adopting this resolution declaring that: 

  1. An unsanitary and unsafe inhabited dwelling accomodations in the City of Riviera Beach, Florida; and

  2. There is a shortage of safe and sanitary dwelling accommodations in the City of Riviera Beach, Florida, available for persons of low-income as rentals thay can afford; and

  3. There is a need for a Housing Authority in the City of Riviera Beach, Floriday.


In 2008, the State of Florida expanded the statutes under Chapter 421 to allow for housing authorities to either act as developer or partner to build and expand affordable housing within the state.


"To proactively develop and create sustainable housing and opportunities for residents of the City of Riviera Beach, so that residents are strengthened by having a safe and affordable living environment. Additionally, to create viable partnerships so that the Authority can meet its overall goals and objectives."
